After redoing my dresser area and hanging my hat storage I couldn’t leave my pathetic shoe storage area as it was. So I was off to IKEA to find what I needed so it didn’t look so sad. What I was using before was a rickety combination of a bunch of these since I had already had most of them around and IKEA is kinda a far drive from where we live (I’ve been putting this off for a while).

My boyfriend and I live in a two bedroom upper flat that is quite large for what we pay. So we are fortunate enough that we don’t need to have a roommate (we did for a few months and let’s just say, I’m happy it didn’t work out), however our building was built back in the 1920′s when people didn’t have large wardrobes. So the closet in our bedroom is about 4 ft wide, what’s a girl to do??? Thanks to an understanding bf the old roommate’s room is now my closet/office. I haven’t spent much time making it pretty and it hasn’t been my fav room in the house, like it should be. The dresser that was in there before was left behind by the roommate and I was just too lazy to remove it so I was putting it to use. It’s time however has come…

I had this Isaac Mizrahi for Target dresser in our basement storage unit, and it is so much better looking. I love hats, and needed proper storage for them so I ordered these a while ago and finally hung them (I actually ordered 3 more to put one more row at the top).

Now I’m off to IKEA to work on my shoe area…

I have a really awesome boyfriend to let me take up so much of our living room astetic to set this up…

This is the view of my temporary studio from our couch. Long story as short as possible… I used to live in a decent sized one bedroom apt by myself and had half of my living room set up permanently as my photo studio for taking pics of vintage clothing (yes, etsy shop). Economy sagged and I couldn’t afford my apt any longer. Packed up my studio and hundreds of unlisted vintage clothing pieces (a bit of a shopping addiction, I admit it) and have been a studio gypsy ever since. Now I live with my boyfriend in a cheaper then my one bedroom, two bedroom. Our basement storage unit is filled with 40 or so giant plastic containers packed with vintage clothing that needs to be loved. I have a new job that frees up more time for me so the shop is going back up and I am cleaning out my life of all the unnecessary *stuff* I have been dragging around for far too long.

My boyfriend had no problem letting me turn our living room into this so I can get rid of all this extra clothing finally…
